Sydney Penny NudeSydney Penny, a hot actress, began her career on television in miniseries The Thorn Birds as Young Meggie and in The New Gidget as Dani. She has also appeared in the English and French movies Pale Rider and Bernadette.

She is best known for her roles on All My Children as Julia Santos Keefer and Samantha “Sam’ Kelly on The Bold and the Beautiful.

1. SPEED

Sydney Penny, a sexy blonde bombshell, has been working in the soap opera circuit ever since she starred in the mini-series The Thorn Birds back in 1983. She has also appeared in the syndicated series Hyperion Bay in 1998 and in her most notable film to date, Hearts Adrift, a 1999 thriller.

In SPEED, Penny is one of many commuters on a city bus that’s rigged to explode if it drops below 50 MPH. The film centers around the efforts of Jack Traven (Keanu Reeves) to save them all, along with spunky Annie Porter (Sandra Bullock), whose stand-in driving duties after the driver is shot. The movie has a lot of suspense and tension, and Jan de Bont’s fast cuts and dramatic switches keep audiences on the edge of their seats. The action in SPEED, with the exception of some unnecessary over-the-top moments, is always exciting and entertaining.

This is an old-school, high-octane thriller that’s still fun to watch nearly 30 years later. It’s not an intellectual challenge, but it delivers thrills and excitement on a level that few movies can match. The cast, especially Dennis Hopper and Keanu Reveves, is excellent. With its nonstop action and suspense, SPEED is a true classic that deserves the adulation it has received over the years. Despite the flaws that some critics point out, it’s still worth watching for anyone who enjoys this genre of film.

2. Starve

Sydney Penny’s most famous roles are as Julia Santos Keefer in the CBS soap opera The Bold and the Beautiful and Samantha “Sam” Kelly in the CBS soap opera All My Children. She has also appeared in several erotic films, such as Hearts Adrift (1996) and In the Eye of the Snake (1996). She played a nymphette in the miniseries The Thorn Birds, and Dani in the syndicated show The New Gidget.

Starve Acre hits all the right notes of British folk horror – a rustic landscape, a mysterious setting, a supernatural presence – and delivers an appropriately morbid tale of religious extremism and loss. Starve Acre, the follow-up to Daniel Kokotajlo’s Apostasy, explores similar themes. Blustery windsong, rousing pastoral visuals, and potent pagan themes add a rich ambiance to the bleak tale.

The delicate performances of Morfydd as Juliette, and Matt Smith, her bereaved spouse, help to bolster the film’s plot. However the latter’s character sometimes veers towards cliche. A solid supporting cast rounded out by Hunter Schafer, Natalie Dormer, and Jessica Barden help keep Starve Acre off the beaten path. Adam Scarth’s grainy filming and muted colors further enhance the film’s classic atmosphere.

3. Life’s Promise Dies

Melbourne hardcore titans Starve have been brewing up some of the most vicious potion this side of Bondi Beach for the past half decade or so. After etching their name in the Australian scene with 2022 EP Six Feet Into The Poppy Field, Starve have returned with their debut full-length Life’s Promise Dies. With a track length that nods to the uber-short tracks of their influences (like Napalm Death and early Nails), this album has got all the markings of being one of the most menacing twenty minutes of heavy music you will have heard in a long time.

Each song in the eleven-track track list is a brutal assault on your senses. Opening track ‘(Null)’ features an eerie introduction of grotesque vocals from frontman Jordan Dunbar that bleed into a melodic chaos of textures. With ‘Nightmare at My Door,’ bass lines pound your eardrums as blast beats and chainssaw riffs rage in the chorus. With guest vox on “World of Shit” from Blaythe Steuer of No Cure and dark prince Bobak Rafiee of Justice For The Damned, Starve have rounded out their heaviest record to date.

Like Two Hunters, but without the mountains; Ashes Against The Grain, with its blast beats, and Instinct Decay, with all the personal bullshit that goes with it, Life’s Promise Die is the most punishing Australian metalcore-come hardcore album of the past year.

4. The Bloody Hands

Sydney Penny, then just 13, starred with Clint Eastwood as Pale Rider in the Western film. She was nominated for a Young Artist Award for her performance, and also received another nomination for her role in the miniseries The Thorn Birds as Young Meggie Clary. She also made guest appearances on the shows Fame, T.J. Hooker and St. Elsewhere, and a starring role as Dani on the sitcom The New Gidget.

She was a regular Julia Santos Keefer on the ABC soap opera All My Children from 1993 to 1996, and 1997 to 2002. She received two Daytime Emmy Award nods. She was the voice of Lucy Van Pelt in the television special It’s Magic Charlie Brown and starred in Santa Barbara as B.J. Walker from 1992 to 1993, Sunset Beach as Meg Cummings (filling in for Susan Ward) and Beverly Hills, 90210. She also starred in the syndicated show Largo Winch, and the 1998 WB drama series Hyperion Bay.
